ELDA Summer Institute 2008

July 8-11, 2008

"Enhancing School Success Through Teacher Leadership"

The practice of educational administration is undergoing unprecedented change as pressure mounts to improve schooling effectiveness and to develop new delivery systems in a world of diminished resources. The Educational Leadership Development Academy, a premier program for principal professional development at the University of San Diego’s School of Leadership and Education Sciences, is sponsoring its third annual Summer Institute in July 2008. The Institute is designed to provide quality professional development to school leaders who accept the challenge of changing school culture to accelerate the learning of all students. Leaders, whatever their official role designation, will learn from nationally acclaimed researchers whose life work has been the topic of transforming schools and learning.  Table Talks, hosted by principals and staff throughout San Diego County, will address the successes and obstacles encountered in implementing Professional Learning Communities.  Additionally time has been set aside for grade-configured strategic focus groups to develop solutions to an instructional leadership challenge in an individual's work setting through discussion with knowledgeable colleagues.
