This five-day Institute is designed for school leaders accepting the charge and facing the challenge to accelerate the achievement of all children. With social justice and equity compelling continuous improvement, effective instructional leaders expand their own knowledge and skill base to powerfully lead learning in their schools.
Drawing on prominent experts, learning from successful practitioners and integrating the most recent research, participants will learn strategies to:
Strengthen their leadership voice: enlisting individual and organizational support for the social justice values and beliefs that guide change
Analyze multiple sources of data: helping organizations see and acknowledge current data to inform thoughtful change
Ensure strong practice: improving teacher instruction & student learning in all classrooms
Develop and nurture an adult-learning organization: creating a culture of professional growth that responds to the needs of children
Organize school-level improvement plans: aligning operations, facilities, human resources and budgets in the service of improving student achievement
This Institute will be led by Ann Van Sickle and Melinda Martin. Among the featured presenters are Anthony Alvarado, Anthony Bryk, Paula Cordeiro, Linda Darling-Hammond, Elaine Fink and Pedro Noguera. Participants will interact with a cadre of principals and district level leaders who have a demonstrated track record of improving student achievement.
